Since the establishment of Republic of Korea government in 1948, there have been changes of administrations many times. But one of the most important themes shared by almost every political leader was peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Most leaders have been concerned very much about how to overcome Cold War confrontation between the North and the South and establish a permanent peace system on the Peninsula and how to prosper and develop economically in the rapidly changing international environment.

So I would like to focus on the two important issues: that is denuclearization of North Korea and the strategy for peace settlement on the Korean Peninsula.
