On Wednesday, we stopped at the traditional village before actually departing for Kyeongju. There, we saw a samulnori performance, which I especially enjoyed, because although we learned a little samulnori ourselves, we had not yet had the opportunity to see a performance. After the performance, we walked around and looked at the traditional houses before going to see a traditional wedding ceremony reenactment. When we finally arrived in Kyeongju, we saw Anapji, the beautiful pond from the Silla dynasty. We arrived while the sun was still out, but as we walked through the park, the sun began setting. By the time we left, it was dark, and the pond looked even more beautiful with the pavilions, lights, and trees reflected in the water.

On Thursday, we got to see Cheonmachong, Cheomseongdae, the National Museum. Then we took the bus to go to the East Sea, where we saw some of the unique geography there (specifically the columnar joint), as well as King Munmu's underwater tomb. We also were able to go swimming there, which was amazing.

Friday, our last day, we went to Bulguksa and Seokguram.

I had been to Bulguksa before, a month or so ago, but this time we had a guide explaining to us. At Seokguram, I was a little surprised, because photographs that I have seen were always taken quite close to the statue, so I assumed we would be able to approach and look more closely.

However, there was actually a glass wall separating tourists from a group of people praying to the statue, so we were only able to see it through the glass.

Although I had been to Kyeongju before, this visit was much better because we spent so much time seeing different parts of the area, and we had guides explaining the history and culture to us as we traveled.
