I'd like to talk about the incredible 3 day trip we had in Gyeongju. I think the most memorable thing was the weather. Right from the beginning when we left our dorms it was raining very hard and this weather followed us until the yongin folk village but once we arrived to our destination, it was incredibly hot and humid. We were on the bus for approximately 5 hours and most of us took the time to catch up on sleep since we stayed up late packing.

The first stop was Yongin folk village. As someone who has always been curious about traditional Korean wedding and studied about it in books, it felt amazing to witness it in person. Also watching salmunori performance under the rain was beautiful. In the Anapji area, the surroundings were so unreal that everyone spent a lot of time snapping pictures. We moved to our hotel after that. It was a great hotel but can't say the same thing about the wifi. For our room in particular the only place with good signal was in the bathroom and funnily enough I think I spent more time in the bathroom than in the actual room.

Thursday was an interesting day. I had never seen such enormous man made tombs and being able to enter such structure was very exciting. What caught my interest was how the identity of the king and queen lying beside each other are still unknown. There were few artifacts on display in the tombs and we were able to see the real versions at the Gyeongju national museum. In the evening we walked by the beach and enjoyed the view of the east sea.

The final day was spent in temples and we were able to see a variety of buddha statues. One thing that caught my eyes in particular was the statue of a fish with a dragons head. The guide explained to us that the meaning behind this combination is that no matter what your status is, if you work hard enough, you can reach higher statuses.

Even tough these 3 days were interesting and memorable, the schedule was hectic and exhausting so when we reached the dorms, we spend time resting.
