  1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Korean exchange program
    • Program Remarks - Langara students have the opportunity to study as an exchange student in a Cultural Internship Program at Soonchunhyang University in Asan, Korea. An exchange gives you the opportunity to study for one or two semesters at a university or college that has an exchange agreement with Langara College.

  2. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : CONAHEC Student Exchange Program
    • Program Remarks - CONAHEC is a consortium of universities and colleges in North America and various other countries that advises and connects institutions interested in establishing or strengthening academic collaborative programs in the North American region. As member of the consortium, Langara students can facilitate student exchanges between member institutions and Korea is part of the list of the participating institutions outside of North America.

Short-term Program

  1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Langara English for Academic Purposes (LEAP)
    • Program Remarks - Langara English for Academic Purposes (LEAP) is an intensive English program designed to prepare students whose first language is not English for full-time study at English language universities and colleges. On November 5 a group of Korean international students in Langara's English for Academic Purposes (LEAP) program had the opportunity to meet with the Korean Consul General, Kie-Cheon Lee, to share their experiences at the College. The students enjoyed discussing the differences between studying English in Korea and in Canada, shared their career goals, and learned about the role of a diplomat. The group included exchange students from Soonchunhyang University and Chongbuk National University in Korea.

  2. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Summer English Language Program
    • Program Remarks - A three-week long Summer English Language Program organized by Langara's International Education Department. The students are on campus from July 9-29, and will enjoy fieldtrips and activities including kayaking, fishing, visiting the Museum of Anthropology, and a day trip to Victoria. The program is participated by thirty Korean students from Seoil University.
    1. Korea-related Courses : ASIA 1100: Introduction to Traditional Asia
      • Course Remarks - This course is designed for students who want to learn Korean language, trends and culture through popular Korean TV dramas. The goal of this class is that students can watch Korean dramas without subtitles, and also students will learn Korean vocabulary and daily expressions more naturally from the various conversations. Prerequisite: Korean - Level 2 or equivalent

Post-Secondary

  1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Associate of Arts Degree in Asian Studies
    • Program Remarks - Focus of the program is on Asian studies but these programs will make the student eligible for acceptance to the second or third year of the Department of Asian Studies at UBC, or the second- or third-year level of the Faculty of Arts in most BC universities, provided all other entry requirements are also fulfilled.
    1. Korea-related Courses : ASIA 1101: Introduction to Modern Asia
      • Course Remarks - A study of the origins of Asian cultures, focusing on the great civilizations of India and China, how these centers interacted together, and why the resulting "Asian" culture spread to Korea, Japan, Central Asia, Tibet, and Southeast Asia.

    • Program Remarks - The Arts & Science program gives you wide-open options for completing a two-year diploma. Design your own curriculum and explore a range of subject areas
    1. Korea-related Courses : ASIA 2200: Cultural Foundations of East Asia
      • Course Remarks - A survey of selected aspects of the emergence of modern Asia. An introduction to the basic conceptual tools needed to understand how, despite the political, economic, social and cultural changes of recent centuries, the various peoples of Asia have maintained distinctive cultural identities.
    2. Korea-related Courses : ASIA 2200: Cultural Foundations of East Asia
      • Course Remarks - A survey of selected beliefs, values and assumptions that have shaped the civilizations of East Asia over the centuries. Identification of commonalities and differences among the peoples of East Asia in both traditional and contemporary environments.
    3. Korea-related Courses : AHIS 1115: History of Asian Arts I
      • Course Remarks - This course is an introductory, chronological survey of the ceramics, sculpture, architecture and painting of India, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Central Asia, Tibet and Southeast Asia. The art will be studied in relation to the political, social and cultural contexts from prehistoric times to the origins and spread of Buddhist and Hindu art styles and secular imagery.
    4. Korea-related Courses : AHIS 1215: History of Asian Arts II
      • Course Remarks - This course is a chronological survey of the ceramics, sculpture, architecture and painting of China, Korea and Japan. Art works will be studied within the historical context of each period and related political, social and cultural factors will be considered. Both secular and Buddhist art will be examined in relation to influences, theory and appropriate issues as relevant.
