Asian Language

1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Pathway to Spoken Korean
   • Programs Remarks - This set of beginning-level materials is designed for students with no previous exposure to the Korean language. It introduces the true beginners to the Korean sound system, instructional expressions, performances of basic personal interactions, and Hangul - the Korean alphabet.
2. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Korean Language Instruction
   • Programs Remarks - The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures (DEALL) offers a varied program in the language and culture of Korea. In addition to five levels of Korean language, faculty teach a range of courses from introductions to Korean culture, literature in translation, to linguistics and art.

Study Abroad

   • Programs Remarks - Sogang University is one of the leading liberal arts institutions in South Korea and was founded in 1960 to follow the Jesuit model of education.

   • Programs Remarks - Soonchunhyang University offers opportunities to university students for study and cultural internships in Korea.
3. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Yonsei University (Seoul)
   • Programs Remarks - Yonsei University’s International Undergraduate Program offers sixty courses taught in English in Korean and East Asian society, culture, art, philosophy, history, politics, international relations, economics, business, and Korean language.

Graduate

1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Interdisciplinary MA in East Asian Studies
   • Programs Remarks - The Ohio State University’s Interdisciplinary East Asian Studies Master of Arts Program places heavy emphasis on interdisciplinary study as well as the development of appropriate language skills as a foundation for work in related professional and academic careers.

Undergraduate

1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Korean Major
   • Programs Remarks - The Department of East Asian Languages and Literature offers an undergraduate major in Korean. The major program includes studies in language, literature, culture, and linguistics.
2. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Korean Minor
   • Programs Remarks - The minor in Korean consists of 15 credit hours of prerequisites and 14 semester credit hours of course work beyond the stated prerequisites. The purpose of the prerequisites is to give students a linguistic and cultural foundation upon which to build an understanding of Korea.
3. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : East Asian Minor Program
   • Programs Remarks - The minor in East Asian consists of a set of prerequisites and 20 hours of course work beyond the stated prerequisites. The purpose of the prerequisites is to give students a language and fundamental culture basis upon which to build an understanding of East Asia.
