The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, provides general services in promotion of Korean culture and information around the world. Its major jobs are to manage the overseas Korean Cultural Centers and Culture & Information Officers, to introduce Korean culture, to support cultural exchange activities, to support foreign correspondents in their coverage of Korea and to manage the official English website of the Korean Government. Its functions have expanded greatly as the role of soft power, including exchanges of scientific techniques and culture, has become increasingly important. KOCIS takes the initiative in informing the policy and promoting the cultural projects of the Korean Government overseas.
