1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : CEAS M.A. Program in Contemporary East Asian Studies
   • Program Remarks - The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at The University of Kansas is offering a new M.A. program in Contemporary East Asian Studies, beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. This 12-month interdisciplinary area studies program focuses on 20th and 21st century East Asia. Two concentrations are available, 1) Contemporary East Asia 2) Foreign Affairs Studies (FASt): Contemporary East Asia in Global Content.
   1. Korea-related Courses : KOR 104 - Korean - Elementary Korean I
      • Course Remarks - Five hours of class and two hours of drill in the spoken language each week. Grammar and readings in selected texts.
   2. Korea-related Courses : KOR 108 - Korean - Elementary Korean II
      • Course Remarks - Continuation of KOR 104. Prerequisite: KOR 104.

   • Program Remarks - Study the economic, political, and social transformation of South Korea since WWII and its rising significance in the global economy while exploring Seoul during this winter break program.

   • Program Remarks - Hallym University is regarded as one of the best universities in South Korea and has received the status “distinguished University” by the South Korean Ministry of Education several times.

   • Program Remarks - Hongik University’s renowned fine arts program is ranked number one in Korea.

   • Program Remarks - Korea University is one of the two oldest private universities in the country. Founded in 1905, the university has stately architecture and sprawling lawns.

   • Program Remarks - Study abroad in South Korea through an approved and accredited non-KU study abroad program.
10. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : TESOL Practicum in Korea
    • Program Remarks - During this 4-6 week summer program, students will teach English at the Kyunghwa Girls’ Private School in South Korea while earning practicum credit.
11. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Korean Language Program
    • Program Remarks - KU is the only institution in Kansas offering elementary to advanced Korean language courses. The Korean language program at KU emphasizes almost equally speaking, listening, reading, and writing at each level.
12. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Foreign Area Officer Master's Program
    • Program Remarks - KU’s FAO Program has a long history. The M.A. program in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (REES) is one of the nation’s oldest. Since 1990, more than 60 FAOs (both 48Es and 48Cs focusing on Eastern Europe) have completed their M.A.s in Russian, East European and Eurasian studies. With the creation of the FASt M.A. concentration on Contemporary East Asia in a Global Context , KU will be one of the few universities in the United States to offer a 12-month FAO M.A. program focusing on East Asia.
