  1. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Major in East Asian Studies
    • Programs Remarks - The East Asian Studies major is an interdisciplinary approach to the languages, deep history, and uncommonly rich culture of this increasingly important part of the world. Students in this major study Chinese or Japanese for at least two full years, and they must take classes in at least three—and they can take classes in four—departments in order to achieve a broad and deep understanding of East Asia.
  2. Program (Korea-related degree offered) : Minor in East Asian Studies
    • Programs Remarks - The minor in East Asian Studies will provide students with a rigorous interdisciplinary overview of the history and culture of East Asia. The minor is designed for students who have a strong interest in East Asia but who are unable to or choose not to pursue the study of an East Asian language. This program will be beneficial to students whose intellectual interests or career path require knowledge of East Asia’s history and culture but whose primary expertise lies elsewhere such as humanities majors engaged in comparative research, science and engineering majors who plan to collaborate with East Asian colleagues, or business and finance majors interested in East Asian markets. Since the requirements for the minor mirror those of the major, the minor program will also give students the opportunity to explore their interest in East Asia before committing to the several semesters of language study required of majors.
